I made what might be a highly foolish mistake and put Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves on tv.

...

First, an observation: Any movie with Morgan Freeman in it is immediately made better. The best thing about any movie with Morgan Freeman in it is automatically Morgan Freeman. "No man controls my destiny. Especially not ones who attack downwind and stink of garlic."

Second, I may well have done too much research on Robin Hood to fully enjoy this movie the way I used to.

This saddens me.

...But it's still Robin Hood.

Also, Alan Rickman at THIS age (and in this role) is precisely how I have always imagined Snape.

Yes. That's because Morgan Freeman is the embodiment of COOL. I've hated plenty of his movies, but I've always loved him.

I used to love Prince of Thieves, but the more I read, the more I realized how ridiculous it was.

Still, I adore the Errol Flynn Robin Hood, and that's chock full of inaccuracies, too...

Morgan Freeman is in the dictionary under "COOL." (or he should be)

It's sort of sad. It was a favorite of mine in childhood, but I read a lot of criticism of it when researching Robin Hood for a class last spring and went "oh, yeah. Huh." =P There is still plenty about it that I love, but.... ::sigh:: It's not quite the same.

It had some fun performances. Alan Rickman, Morgan Freeman, Christian Slater was cute... :)

Yes. And I blame that movie for the fact that I continually want to make Robin and Will Scarlet brothers, despite NO reason for it.

Ridiculous or not, I love that film. Christian Slater, Morgan Freeman, Alan Rickman and Brian Blessed? Brilliant. And Alan hamming it up for his death scene! There's so much awesome about this.

It *is* awesome. And I do love it. Especially since I have the new "extended" version, with extra Alan Rickman! Heee! (He--as the sheriff--creeped me out more than any other movie villain when I was younger. He is still creepy, but ridiculously fun to watch.)

And there are so many different versions of Robin Hood, anyway--at least it's not "Princess of Thieves." =P
