Lois brought her heel down on the back of the thug's head with a satisfying crack. When he went down, she slipped her shoe back on her foot and straightened, putting her hands on her hips and looking around at the room full of incapacitated assholes who had been attacking them. Not bad, really.
Jaime landed next to her and let his armor slide away--she had seen him suit up, so the secret identity thing was kind of moot now anyway. He sucked at that. He looked around, bewildered. "Um... I was going to ask if you were all right, but I think maybe I should be asking him."
"He'll be fine," Lois said, leaning over to check his pockets for ID or any kind of damning evidence. "He'll have a hell of a headache though. Are you all right?"
"Yeah, fine. Um... Can I ask you a favor?"
She glanced at him, raising an eyebrow. "I know nothing about an exoskeleton or the color blue. How's that?"
He blinked in surprise. "Uh... thanks. I--kind of thought I'd have to work harder to convince you not to tell everyone."
Lois straightened and looked him in the eye. "I take my job very seriously, Jaime. But telling the world who you are would only hurt you and your friends and family and make it that much harder for you to do what you do, which as far as I can tell is only good. So no, I won't tell anyone anything because I didn't see anything. Are we clear?"

Jaime nodded, feeling intensely relieved. "We're clear. Thank you."
"Sure thing." She stuck her hands on her hips and surveyed the room. "Now, help me tie these losers up so we can get on with our day."
Jaime hesitated, but one look had him scurrying to do as she said. Heaven help him if Lois Lane ever joined forces with Bianca Reyes.
Or even worse, Milagro.
