Hmm, see, I am very UNconflicted about this ship. But then, you are asking a rabid RON/Hermione shipper. And honestly, I do think Harry and Ginny would be good together, particularly the Ginny we see in OotP. She's fiesty and opinionated and not afraid to put Harry in his place. But that might be TOO easy.
Anyway, Harry and Hermione... I really see them as friends. I identify with Hermione in a lot of ways-bookworm, smart, not a LOT of friends, but a few GREAT ones-and maybe this is part of it. I think Hermione and Harry wouldn't work as a couple if only because I really don't see the attraction between them. Obviously Harry's never looked at Hermione as much more than... his best friend who happens to be a girl. Ron gets jealous, angry and tongue-tied over Viktor Krum, but Harry just laughs at them. (Granted, these are kids. But they will grow up.)
And as much as I love to read happy-in-love!Harry, I think he's so caught up in being The Boy Who Lived And Has A Prophecy To Fulfill that it would be hard for him to be in love and focus on that until *after* he defeats Voldemort. (speaking of, go read "After the End" if you haven't. It's long, and AU now, as it was written pre-OotP, but it's terrific. and realistic.)
Anyway, I think part of my issue with Harry/Hermione is that I just ship Ron/Hermione so strongly. I think Hermione and Harry have more of a best friend/brother-sister relationship. They DO love each other, but not like that.
Hermione worries about Harry, and I can see how that can be seen as Hermione loving Harry... which she does. But I think it's more of a Hermione playing the Mother Hen role. Hermione worries about the people she loves, and tries to help them. But she never yells or screams at Harry, no matter how frustrated or angry she gets at him. She huffs and walks off, but I can't recall (off-hand) any instance where she's confronted him in the way she has confronted Ron. (Then again, I'm not sure what this means. I suppose it could be taken the other way, but I'm not seeing it as a sign that she loves him.)
If any of that makes sense. I'm trying not to turn this into a rant on the reasons I ship R/H, but the two are kind of tied together and so... Heh. (and yeah, definitely over 100 words, but whatever. I'm not good with the brevity.)
