Okay, so apparently I dealt with my depression/rage/loss of faith in humanity yesterday by being a hermit and secluding myself and writing like a crazy person. (To be fair, my mother was also an irritable, cranky mess and we ignored each other most of the night for our health.) That being said, between midnight on the 3rd and midnight on the 4th, I wrote 6544 words. O_o No wonder my wrists ache today.

Uh yeah.

My justification for going completely insane in week 1 and maybe 2 is that the end of the month has a looooot of school projects. Three professional books and presentations on them, a ten page paper and a portfolio, to name the big things. The more I get done now, the less guilty I will feel later. And the less likely it will be that I fail NaNo because, you know. School kind of comes first. :P

However, I doubt today will be as productive. I have actual Things To Do.

Like put dinner in the crock pot. I should go do that.

Mainly because my current word count amuses me:

Clocking in at 50,033 at 11:59 EST.

This morning I had 37520 words. Friday I had 19000. I... cannot do all that math right now, but I have not left my bedroom or my desk in two whole days and am on eight hours of sleep in the last 48 hours and and and

Holy crap I did it.

Aaaaaaaaand at 3:48 am, I have:

1,800 / 50,000 (3.6%)

(Also, if you want on the NaNo filter, I may post snippets eventually. ;) Is a fanfic novel, because that is the way the cookie crumbled.)

Okay, so it took staying up all night for most of the week, but I DID IT. I WON NANO.

Although I find it interesting that my Word document gives me a word count of 51,445, while this website says I wrote 52,363 and the NaNoWriMo website says I wrote 50,605.

I've been going by my Word program's counter so I will continue to do so for the final meter:

51,445 / 50,000 (102.9%)

I don't actually care, because I WON NANO. ::flails:: And after such a horrific beginning of the month, I am very, very pleased with myself. I even managed to write "The End."

Even if I still have half the damn thing to write in more than broad scene sketches and notes, but that's okay.

YAY!

Now I'm not looking at the thing for a few months. =P (Or until Katt bugs me enough.)

Now my to-do list:

-Job Applications
-Christmas baking
-Read book for yuletide so I can write my yuletide fic
-jbbs fic with zoe_chan
-Other assorted projects with zoe_chan for our insane crack AU

Oh yeah and all that Christmas stuff. ;) (Except we can't decorate yet because apparently my aunt is replacing our front windows and tiling our bathroom floors for Christmas and this is happening... starting Monday. Also giving us her old microwave to install over the stove, and it came by UPS from California yesterday and the UPS man almost had a hernia carrying it up our driveway. OH, BO.)

Also I want to reread The Golden Compass before I see the movie. But maybe I should wait... opinions?

But FIRST--some quality time AWAY from my computer. Maybe with a hot pack for my neck.

To amuse you, a conversation that totally did not happen precisely this way last night:

Me, trying (and failing) to unlock the car door: I couldn't get it in the hole!
aradiachiba: [dissolves into giggles]
Me: I mean the key. I couldn't get the key in the hole. If I were a man, I'd suck at sex.
aradiachiba: You suck at sex?!
Me: Yes. If I were a man, I would.
aradiachiba: Oh, I thought you said you DID suck at sex.
Me: No, no, I'm the hole, not the key. If I were the key, I'd suck at sex. I'm the hole, so I don't suck at sex. If I were the key, I wouldn't want to have sex with myse--let's not touch that.
aradiachiba: I think that's best.

And that totally did NOT lead to the phrase "suck at sex" being repeated ad nauseam until it sounded like "socket-sex," at which point the conversation did not completely die.


Dancing with the Stars is on, and has a Halloween theme! Hmm, interesting.

...Mario Lopez is TOTALLY wearing eyeliner. O_O Well. I didn't expect that to be this sexy. (HA! Anything Mario does/wears is sexy!)

We had precisely 6 doorbell rings, and less than 20 trick-or-treaters. ::sighs:: Here I am mourning my childhood. Although, one of my students said today "Ms. _________, where do you live? I'll come trick or treating at your house!" I said, "I live 40 minutes away from here." He said, "Oh. Well, maybe not, but I would if I could."


Halloween left me ABSOLUTELY BEYOND EXHAUSTED. OMG those kids were out of control today. We put together paper skeletons in science for our unit on the skeletal system, and it took two hours of the afternoon... so I'm glad I decided to switch that to BEFORE the mindless fun Halloween packet. ;) aradiachiba helped me make and decorate cupcakes that I brought in. I hid them under my desk and somehow managed to get them out, around the desk and on the front table before any of the kids noticed. I was surprised!






Huh, so NaNoWriMo's FAQ says fanfic counts. That is, if I were to write 50,000 words on the Founders, that could count as completing Nano.

Intriguing.

And a bit tempting, as all my original ideas seem to be hiding or physically avoiding me as best they can.

And Salazar and Helga won't shut up.

...

And yet, I feel like it's... cheating. In some vague, undefined sort of way.

Does that make sense?
