Some musings on Padme (a bit of character study) and "Revenge of the Sith"

What might this post be about? Heh.

Anyway, have read a few interesting posts about Padme, and the most interesting were these: A few theories to reconcile certain spoilery things in RotS that don't *quite* mesh with RotJ... (by wiliqueen), and a bit of discussion of Padme's actions and choices in RotS by artaxastra.

So, now, ( some of MY thoughts on Padme and Revenge of the Sith...(cut for spoilers) )

I just think they could have done better by her. I still like the character, but now... I don't know. Having a hard time reconciling everything.

Also, would LOVE a good "Five things that never happened to..." fic. Specifically Obi-Wan, Anakin, Yoda or Padme centered. That would rock.

Oh, the horror and wonder and joy of fanfic...

So, was looking, and stumbled across... well, some rather spectacular fic.

Must admit, have never been tremendously active in even reading SW fics. I get obsessive, but... the fandom is as large and frightening as HP, but I've been with HP since the beginning. As I was BORN the year Return of the Jedi premiered, SW has a fandom older than me. A bit intimidating.

So, discovered a few gems tonight and thought, MUST SHARE! If only so I find them again later. And Theanna can read them. ;) Heh.

As these are heavily RotS spoilerific, I will put them behind the lovely ( LJ-Cut )

And on an unrelated note, but related to my last post, this entry discusses Padme and her choice in RotS and I agree 100%. Maybe that's part of why that scene pisses me off so much. Beware the spoiler( s. )

Yay for Yoda!! And woot for Luke, Leia and Obi-Wan! The 50% Jabba the Hutt thing is disturbing, though. Heh.

Because Gorham, Maine, often has this sort of problem...

Um, yeah, debated about posting this, but thought I should for the amusement of all.

My brother woke me from a dead sleep at 8:30 this morning... as I was up until about 4:30, was not completely myself. He wanted me to write a note for him for being late to school... Being half asleep, I did.

Now, what I remember from this is Ryan shoving paper and pen at me, me writing something, him leaving... then Ryan coming BACK and bugging me to write another one, but I couldn't understand him because he was giggling too hard.

Yes, my 18 year old brother was *giggling*. Not laughing. Giggling. Madly.

I woke up about 11 thinking, 'wow, what a strange dream *that* was.'

And found a note on my alarm clock...

What I was supposed to write was a note that said "Ryan will be arriving late to school due to a doctor's appointment."

What I wrote will tell you a great deal about my state of mind, and it is frightening.

It is also impressive that the note *looks* like I wrote it fully awake. The only sign I was sleeping is that the "m" in "problem" looks like "mm."



So, this, then, is what I wrote:


Ryan will be arriving thanks to school during a lightsaber problem.






I have absolutely no defense.

But the force is with me. And apparently Gorham has a big lightsaber problem.
