Random in that I have a lot to say, I think... maybe. We'll see.

First, Amazing Race-type talk )

Now for American Idol discussion! )

And, Theanna, you HAVE corrupted me and I love Glinda. Damn it. (I still love Elphaba, though.) I love them as friends.

Meanwhile, I'm lucky enough to have many friends who have changed me.

And two of them have changed me for good, and I KNOW it's for the better.

I love you girls.

Taken from [livejournal.com profile] penknife because obviously I just have too much time on my hands. ;) Heh.

a. Post a list of 10 book or TV series, movies, or comics fandoms.
b. Have your friends list guess your favourite CHARACTER from each fandom.
c. When guessed, bold the fandom and write a sentence or two about why you like that character.

1. Harry Potter: Ron What can I say? I'm a sucker for the best friend/loyal sidekick. Besides, Ron is a bit of a hothead, but he would do anything for Harry and Hermione and his family. He's a good guy, even he's not always terribly bright. He also gets some of the funniest lines, and the movies sometimes annoy me because he's obviously the comedic relief. But he's more than that, too. (I wrote a paper on Ron two years ago for a Literary Analysis class. Won't go that in-depth here.) Plus, his talent at chess has a lot of metaphorical possibility. Don't underestimate him.

2. Phantom of the Opera: Raoul Again, I'm a sucker for the good guys. I can't help it. And he is not a fop. As much as everyone says he is. He gets a bad rap, but he's a good man and he loves Christine, and he is willing to die for her in the end, which I'd take over killing any day. Plus, play me "All I Ask of You" and I'm gone. I always did root for Raoul, even in fifth grade, without really knowing why.

3. Lord of the Rings: Faramir Ah, Faramir. The movies do NOT do him justice. He's a such a good man, and he just wants to make his father and brother happy, but his father's a psychopathic pyromaniac. I adore the way he tries so hard, and is obviously very worthy on his own. And at least Boromir and everyone else sees it, even if Denethor doesn't until it's too late. Plus, I adore Eowyn and Faramir as a couple.

4. Numb3rs: Charlie Well... yeah. I definitely have a soft-spot for Don, but I can't help loving Charlie. Doesn't hurt that the actor played Bernard in Santa Clause, which is probably one of my all-time favorite Christmas movie. (It's not Christmas until I've watched it.) And he's so... endearingly clueless with some social situations, but he isn't as clueless as people think he is. Plus, I think he must be a great teacher, given the way he explains things. I do really love Charlie, and I don't even know quite why.

5. Joan of Arcadia: Grace Yeah, so I haven't watched this season as much as last, because Joan and God are ticking me off, and what the writers have done with Adam is SO annoying. But Grace. God, I love Grace. She is the only reason I still like the show and often my favorite episodes are the ones with lots of her. I adore her sarcasm and her utter contempt for authority. I love her leather jacket and her protests and her dry humor. She reminds me of several people I went to high school with, and she reminds me of Theanna, and I'm not sure why, there, but there it is. She also cares a LOT more than she lets on. I think that's the real reason I love her. She pretends to care only about herself, but you know she loves Joan and Adam and Luke, and would do anything for them. Even if she'd be complaining loudly the whole time, and say she really did it for herself, or to undermine society.

6. X-Men: Scott Summers Ah, Scott. I love Scott. Again, the Good Guy. But, also, James Marsden brings me joy. And Theanna may have influenced me a tad, but I probably would have loved him anyway. I like Scott, because he came from a rough background, but isn't letting it mess him up too much as an adult. He's a role model for the kids, and he loves Jean. I adore the relationship he has with Charles. I love that he's the leader, and he's smart. He knows what he's doing, and he doesn't put up with shit. He and Logan have a pissing contest going on, but ultimately, Scott always wins in my book.

7. RENT: Roger I think this may partly be due to Adam Pascal's amazing voice, but I also loved the person who played him when I saw him in January. So... It might just be that I love Roger, even if he is hot-headed and pessimistic and he flies off the handle for no reason and gets incredibly jealous. It's a tragic thing, I guess. His girlfriend killed herself and left him with AIDS, and he just can't deal with it. Then there's Mimi and her drug addiction and AIDS... But I think I love his interactions with Mark the most. Those two are awesome friends. I love them. And Roger's just... well, I don't know. I love him. I think I relate most to Mark, but I like Roger. "The pretty boy front man" and all that. :) One Song Glory indeed...

8. Batman: Robin/Dick Grayson (Later Nightwing) Okay, so... Long-time love, here. Poor Dick. Little circus boy watches his parents die and is taken in by the richest man in Gotham. And he's still just a kid when he starts fighting crime as the Boy Wonder. He spends his whole life trying to live up to Bruce's expectations, and Bruce just doesn't know what to do with him. It's a testament to Dick and his parents that he isn't as completely screwed up as Bruce. And without Robin, Batman may well have crossed that line and become worse than the bad guys he fought. The movies completely ruined his storyline, but I still loved them because I guess I just love Dick Grayson in any way, shape or form.

9. Troy (the movie): Hector Man, I do have a thing for Good Guys. Can't get much more honorable and valient that Hector of Troy. He *knows* Paris is an idiot, but it's his brother. He can't let his little brother die, even if that would probably be best for Troy. He won't let Helen return to her husband because it would end badly for her. He goes and fights Achilles, even though he knows he probably won't survive. He shows his wife how to escape and makes sure she will take as many people as she can to safety. He loves his country, his family and his wife more than anything and he dies for them. Plus, Eric Bana is dead sexy.

10. Pirates of the Caribbean: Jack Sparrow Actually, yes, I do love Jack. Must be Ariel rubbing off on me, because you'd think Will Turner would be my favorite based on the whole good guy thing I apparently have. But no, Jack is just hilarious. And, you know, a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Why's the rum gone?! He makes me laugh. And he's really not as bad as he thinks he is.

The moral of the story: Dammit, I really do love the good guys.
