lady_sarai: (Old School Love)
Horridly late, I know. But whatever. I haven't done a Frankenmix since September and this CLEARLY needed to be remedied.

So, I present my Ideal Romantic Comedy Soundtrack.

EtA: [livejournal.com profile] scribophile is a bad influence. Instead of writing more gay sex, I made a zip file of my Frankenmix. It's here, if you'd like. :) NOW for the writing. Really.

An Old Fashioned Love Song )

And, seriously, I made a major, major, MAJOR mistake yesterday by finishing Twilight and then, when my internet was down, starting New Moon. Which so distressed me that I then freaked and did something I HATE doing, which is SKIM so I could read a quickly as possible and make sure everything turned out right in the end. Because I was furious and upset and OMG. Can nothing go smoothly? I mean, I never loved Romeo and Juliet because I got impatient with them and their miscommunication and was not as emotionally invested in their love story as I am in Edward and Bella's. So. I cheated and now will have to re-read because I am not sure I remember the whole middle section at ALL. I will make a post sometime when I've reread both these books. (Also, again I say, Edward. I ♥ you, you melodramatic drama queen. Or king. Whatever.)

And now I am all flaily and I CRIED (very seriously) and dammit. I love Edward and it's not fair. I will NOT get sucked in and obsessive about these books right now. February, maybe. Not NOW, when I've been doing so well with my Bruce/Richard drama.

This is seriously causing flailing on my part because Bruce and Richard are not a) meant to be together forever, omgtheirloveissoconfoundedlyperfect!. No, it's more like omgtheirloveissotoxic!whatareyoutwodoingtoeachother?! And b) neither of them are vampires.

Please don't make my brain hurt by suggesting that the latter is possible. I know Bruce is Batman, but really.

Maybe it will help if I go reread that sex scene I wrote.

ETA: Tread carefully in the comments; some not-terribly-specific-but-potentially-spoileriffic discussion of Twilight and New Moon happening there. Mostly, it's fangirlish squealing. But still. Walk with care.

Just a day shy of actually meeting the Frankenmix deadline this month! Guh. I tried?

GASP! I made the deadline! I misread the 25th as the 23rd! Go me! =D (And go here for the rest of this month's mixes.

September Frankenmix! )

Now, off to either read or write or play in Photoshop. Although I have a stack of papers a mile high to grade. Hmm.

Also, A Very Happy (slightly belated) Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] minisinoo!

I need a music icon if I'm going to do this every month. Which is the plan.
lady_sarai: (Sunset on the water)
Cause I have so much love for these things, even if I totally miss the deadline. =D And OMG, is it really September already?!

August's Frankenmix )

Also, apologies. My default player is iTunes, and I can't remember now which song is which file type. =P Heh. There's always Limewire. I mean... check the iTunes store.
lady_sarai: (Cary Grant)
OMG, the Frankenmix is back. And technically, there's been a new one every month.

How have I not known this?! Come on, really, now.

::headdesk::

I fail. And I should so be doing housework, which is why my Frankenmix isn't being posted right now. See? Sara's a good girl.

Oh, shut up, I am.

[livejournal.com profile] zoe_chan and I wrote 4 pages of the Founderfic of DOOOOM and sleeping dragons last night. Hopefully will finish tonight. ::nods::

All right, time to vacuum. Or do dishes. Or both. =P

Also, there was a Cary Grant movie marathon on Saturday on Turner Classic Movies and we recorded them all and I am in something like heaven.
lady_sarai: (HA! (laughing The))
Every one else is doing it. ;)

I've gotten some great music since I saw this in [livejournal.com profile] thistlerose's journal, so... Decided I may as well do my part and contribute to the music love!

Now, time for my Frankenstein meme.

1. A song that wakes you up in the morning.

Lately? It's Goodbye, Anthony Rapp.

2. A song you loved in high school.

Okay, because this song is here partly for sentimental reasons. So many high school memories...

Light My Candle, from OBC Rent.

Yeah, so, this was RIDICULOUSLY hard to choose. Because I think music was at the center of a LOT of what went on in high school, with my friends. But I will NEVER stop associating this song with being acted out during car rides in the station wagon and trips to Old Orchard Beach. And the cafeteria. And the library. And the halls... =P

And then I loved Kryptonite by 3 Doors Down. Totally just rediscovered this... Wee!

3. A song that mentions a dead celebrity.

I know it's been done, but... We Didn't Start the Fire, Billy Joel. Dude, it's Billy Joel.

4. A song you'd be embarrassed to listen to with your grandmother.

You Can Be As Loud As The Hell You Want When You're Making Love, from Avenue Q. Yeah. 'Nuff said.

5. A song that MTV will never play in a million, billion years.

Minuet, Idina Menzel.

Sadly, it won't be mainstream. But gosh, it's such a gorgeous song.

6. A song with a title that ends in y.

Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy, Big and Rich.

It ends with Y, what? ;)

7. A song that makes you crave something.

Patches Clarence Carter.

It's a weird thing. This song makes me cry. It reminds me of my Dad, because my clearest memory of this song is sitting in the car in Smiling Hill Farm's parking lot, eating ice cream and telling him to turn the car back on because I loved this song and crying because he had turned the engine off in the middle of the song. =P Random, but true, so it makes me want ice cream and my daddy. Or at least a hug.

8. A cover song that you think is better than the original.

Sway, Michael Buble. I adore this song, anyway, but I love his version.

9. The original of #8.

Sway, Dean Martin.

You HAVE to love Dean Martin, but there's a more dramatic feel to Michael Buble's. ::shrug:: Also, not sure if this is THE original, but it's MY original. ;)

10. A song that reminds you of a fandom OTP.

Downfall, Matchbox 20.

I wonder how you sleep
I wonder what you think of me
If I could go back
Would you have ever been with me
I want you to be uneased
I want you to remember
I want you to believe in me
I want you on my side
Come on
And lay it down
I've always been with you
Here and now
Give all that's within you
Be my savior
And I'll be your downfall

Not that I can name that OTP right now, but it's a doomed one. It SHOULD be an OTP song. ;) Maybe Mark/Maureen or Hufflepuff/Slytherin. Or something. Something tragic. Actually, suggest an OTP for that! ::shrug::

11. You have been caught mouthing the lyrics to this song.

Lately, Losing My Religion, REM... and Hemorrage, Fuel. Although, also listen to Chris Daughtry's version. Cause I ADORE what he does with it.

But totally Schadenfreude! Avenue Q! Because, yeah, I am that cynical at times. It's nice to belt that.

12. A song that will always make you think of a movie.

Everything I Do (I Do It For You), Bryan Adams. Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, yo. Dude, I love Robin Hood. And this SONG!!!

13. A song that should totally have fic written about it.

Room to Breathe, Anthony Rapp.

I still take you to bed, but it's the you I face instead
Where I use every word I never said to crack you open
There was barely room to breathe
Getting the skeptic to believe
That the goal wasn't to leave one of us broken
If it's true nothing gets close to you for fear of melting down
Then I've become the chosen one, an example for the crowd

Your star is due for shooting and I'll be watching the night sky
In hopes by then what binds us has come untied

I'm the tune of a lesser band
Sea legs on dry land
Thinking how you forfeited your hand to keep us from winning
I watch them orbiting around you now, just like you showed them how
And you reach out like the hand of God--a tap will keep them spinning
If it's true they flock to you without your shepards call
For a change just let them range and see how far you fall

Your star is due for shooting and I'll be watching the night sky
In hopes that soon what binds has will come untied

Can I take it back? Can I take it back now?

It's what the loss of our friends brings
It's in the way you held my strings
It's now all the little things I can't help but doubt
Sometimes I wish I'd never known just how brilliantly you shown
Right before you threw the stone to cast me out.

It would be fairly heartbreaking, but guh.

14. A song you wish they'd play in elevators.

Bohemian Rhapsody, Queen. It's QUEEN, yo!

Also, Torn, Natalie Imbruglia. It's catchy!

15. You'll stop listening to this song when they pry your MP3 player out of your cold, dead hands.

Ordinary Men Abound, Adam Pascal. Dunno why, but it's consistantly the most played song in my iTunes by leaps and bounds. It's just pretty.

(And that's that. But I'd really like to see [livejournal.com profile] zoe_chan, [livejournal.com profile] arnica and [livejournal.com profile] aradiachiba do this. ;) (I'd especially like to see your High School choices. THAT was hard!)
