Today is voting day! This is a bigger deal in Maine than in other places, as we are not electing anyone (except town and school councils for my town), but there are a lot of Very Important Referendum questions. Including question 1, which hopes to repeal the same sex marriage law. I have been waiting to vote for MONTHS now, and I have now officially voted. (No stickers, though. Sad.)
It is also November 3rd, making it two years since my grandmother died. As of 9:30 am, Mom is... not handling it all that well, but she is off to work now. She went in late so we could go vote and have breakfast together. It was nice.
...Also nice was two of the town council people shaking hands and holding doors for us, and being more than happy to vote for them instead of the third person on the ballot, who is an old (unpleasant) former neighbor of ours. Not that we're voting based on her tendency to mow down small children in the street instead of her town council abilities or anything.
Anyway. I am nervous about today's results. We will see. Hopefully enough people go vote today.
Now! As for NaNo!
Before sleeping on Saturday night, I had broken 2000 words. As of sleeping Sunday night, I broke 4000 words.
As of sleeping last night, my word count is now:
YAY! I am enjoying this. (AND I wrote a 2000 word paper on Sunday for my Monday night class, which I think should count for something.) Today's goal: 10k. Am I setting myself up for failure by announcing this to everyone? Maybe. Do I care? Not especially!
I do love week 1 of NaNo.
