Uh, snagged from somewhere or other:

Comment with the name of a character or a pairing in a fandom I know (or ask me), and I will post you an instant mini-fanmix: 3-5 songs that remind me of them.

Also, from [livejournal.com profile] _dundee_kisses because she made me two awesome icons (see! Lookit!):

1) Comment and I'll pick one of your LJ interests and make you an icon.
2) You have absolutely no say in what I make. Hints do not help you, mmhm.
3) If you do partake in it, please put this in your LJ so I can do the same to you.

=D Songs and icons. Can't go wrong, can you? ;)
lady_sarai: (Hufflepuff does not equal pushover)
I have such music bliss. OMG leik whoa.

Found a bunch of Three Dog Night, Beatles, Elvis, Joan Baez, Neil Diamond and other Oldies this afternoon.

This is what happens when you start kindergarten and realize that there is music other than Oldies.

I love this music.

::bliss::

Meanwhile, the paper writing goes slowly, painfully and annoyingly.

But! I have "Eli's Coming," "Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)," "Suspicious Minds," "Diamonds and Rust," "Hotel California," "Unchained Melody," "Whiter Shade of Pale," "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," "In the Ghetto," "Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon" and a TON of other really fun music.

Now that I'm old enough to appreciate them, I do. (I did then, too, but still. Maybe it's that Mom's taken to listening to the "easy listening" station rather than the "oldies" station lately and that's... not quite normal. ;) Heh.)

Oh, if only I could be done. >_< I have done no packing. At all. And I'm taking the majority of things home tomorrow. HA.

This should go well.

Edit: Slight ranting about American Idol )

And that is all. Paper time again.

::headdesk::
lady_sarai: (Obliviate)
Oh. Pardon me for flailing a bit, but I found it.

He opens his mouth and SEX comes out. Seriously.

Yeah. Swooning over Chris Daughtry again. I can't help it. As if I didn't already hold that song as one of my favorites ever BEFORE he sang it.

And let me say this, he did Bryan Adams proud. If Bryan Adams cared, that is. This fan does.

There's something about his voice that makes me weak in the knees and I am so not kidding. I adore him on a Josh Groban level, for different reasons. (If this tells Ariel and Theanna anything. ;) Heh.)

On another note, I have absolutely NO motivation today. I hate this. Feeling blah and bored and I have a ton to do but am ridiculously scatterbrained and just... not here.

This is not going to be good for me.

Also, please. Peter, stop eating my brain. ::hangs head::

I need to either find some fic that works for me, or have an idea that I can work with. Something. Ugh.
lady_sarai: (High Five!)
So, been a week and a half. But this is not a proper update.

Music meme! Found saved somewhere in the depths of my harddrive and I have no idea where it came from, but obviously I wanted to try it so I saved it and... here I am. Trying it. =D

Music is good. We all love music. Share the music love!

Reply to this post with a song recommendation; it can be a silly song, an obscure song, a favorite song or just a song you think I'll like. You can reply with just the title and artist information, or (if you really like me) you can upload the song to YouSendIt or MegaUpload and reply with the link! ;)

And of course, once you've commented, post this in your own journal and experience the joy and wonder that is new music!

=D Comment away, please! ;)

Also, totally hating papers right now. Blargh. Some new, good music would make the paper writing *much* nicer. ;) Just saying. Also, dude, Meatloaf! And American Idol had Queen night this week. Queen!

ETA: Totally didn't realize it actually HAS been about a week and a half since a post. Snerk. =P So busy it's not even funny...
lady_sarai: (Norwegian Victory)
Snagged from [livejournal.com profile] alphabet26 because you can never have too many memes.

Go to your music player of choice and put it on shuffle.
Say the following questions aloud, and press play.
Use the song title as the answer to the question.

NO CHEATING.

I am a lemming. )

Bedtime, soon, methinks. Heh. Yay for Fridays and weekends! =)

That was WAY entertaining. ::snorts::
lady_sarai: (HA! (laughing The))
Every one else is doing it. ;)

I've gotten some great music since I saw this in [livejournal.com profile] thistlerose's journal, so... Decided I may as well do my part and contribute to the music love!

Now, time for my Frankenstein meme.

1. A song that wakes you up in the morning.

Lately? It's Goodbye, Anthony Rapp.

2. A song you loved in high school.

Okay, because this song is here partly for sentimental reasons. So many high school memories...

Light My Candle, from OBC Rent.

Yeah, so, this was RIDICULOUSLY hard to choose. Because I think music was at the center of a LOT of what went on in high school, with my friends. But I will NEVER stop associating this song with being acted out during car rides in the station wagon and trips to Old Orchard Beach. And the cafeteria. And the library. And the halls... =P

And then I loved Kryptonite by 3 Doors Down. Totally just rediscovered this... Wee!

3. A song that mentions a dead celebrity.

I know it's been done, but... We Didn't Start the Fire, Billy Joel. Dude, it's Billy Joel.

4. A song you'd be embarrassed to listen to with your grandmother.

You Can Be As Loud As The Hell You Want When You're Making Love, from Avenue Q. Yeah. 'Nuff said.

5. A song that MTV will never play in a million, billion years.

Minuet, Idina Menzel.

Sadly, it won't be mainstream. But gosh, it's such a gorgeous song.

6. A song with a title that ends in y.

Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy, Big and Rich.

It ends with Y, what? ;)

7. A song that makes you crave something.

Patches Clarence Carter.

It's a weird thing. This song makes me cry. It reminds me of my Dad, because my clearest memory of this song is sitting in the car in Smiling Hill Farm's parking lot, eating ice cream and telling him to turn the car back on because I loved this song and crying because he had turned the engine off in the middle of the song. =P Random, but true, so it makes me want ice cream and my daddy. Or at least a hug.

8. A cover song that you think is better than the original.

Sway, Michael Buble. I adore this song, anyway, but I love his version.

9. The original of #8.

Sway, Dean Martin.

You HAVE to love Dean Martin, but there's a more dramatic feel to Michael Buble's. ::shrug:: Also, not sure if this is THE original, but it's MY original. ;)

10. A song that reminds you of a fandom OTP.

Downfall, Matchbox 20.

I wonder how you sleep
I wonder what you think of me
If I could go back
Would you have ever been with me
I want you to be uneased
I want you to remember
I want you to believe in me
I want you on my side
Come on
And lay it down
I've always been with you
Here and now
Give all that's within you
Be my savior
And I'll be your downfall

Not that I can name that OTP right now, but it's a doomed one. It SHOULD be an OTP song. ;) Maybe Mark/Maureen or Hufflepuff/Slytherin. Or something. Something tragic. Actually, suggest an OTP for that! ::shrug::

11. You have been caught mouthing the lyrics to this song.

Lately, Losing My Religion, REM... and Hemorrage, Fuel. Although, also listen to Chris Daughtry's version. Cause I ADORE what he does with it.

But totally Schadenfreude! Avenue Q! Because, yeah, I am that cynical at times. It's nice to belt that.

12. A song that will always make you think of a movie.

Everything I Do (I Do It For You), Bryan Adams. Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, yo. Dude, I love Robin Hood. And this SONG!!!

13. A song that should totally have fic written about it.

Room to Breathe, Anthony Rapp.

I still take you to bed, but it's the you I face instead
Where I use every word I never said to crack you open
There was barely room to breathe
Getting the skeptic to believe
That the goal wasn't to leave one of us broken
If it's true nothing gets close to you for fear of melting down
Then I've become the chosen one, an example for the crowd

Your star is due for shooting and I'll be watching the night sky
In hopes by then what binds us has come untied

I'm the tune of a lesser band
Sea legs on dry land
Thinking how you forfeited your hand to keep us from winning
I watch them orbiting around you now, just like you showed them how
And you reach out like the hand of God--a tap will keep them spinning
If it's true they flock to you without your shepards call
For a change just let them range and see how far you fall

Your star is due for shooting and I'll be watching the night sky
In hopes that soon what binds has will come untied

Can I take it back? Can I take it back now?

It's what the loss of our friends brings
It's in the way you held my strings
It's now all the little things I can't help but doubt
Sometimes I wish I'd never known just how brilliantly you shown
Right before you threw the stone to cast me out.

It would be fairly heartbreaking, but guh.

14. A song you wish they'd play in elevators.

Bohemian Rhapsody, Queen. It's QUEEN, yo!

Also, Torn, Natalie Imbruglia. It's catchy!

15. You'll stop listening to this song when they pry your MP3 player out of your cold, dead hands.

Ordinary Men Abound, Adam Pascal. Dunno why, but it's consistantly the most played song in my iTunes by leaps and bounds. It's just pretty.

(And that's that. But I'd really like to see [livejournal.com profile] zoe_chan, [livejournal.com profile] arnica and [livejournal.com profile] aradiachiba do this. ;) (I'd especially like to see your High School choices. THAT was hard!)
lady_sarai: (HA! (laughing The))
Okay, listening to the Grey's Anatomy theme song just now, and it's so fun.

So... Here. Go ahead, and listen. It's just pretty. I wish they used more of it...

And yes, avoiding this paper like the plague.

On the upside, have a great deal of my uberlong fic mapped out now, thanks to Theanna's patience while I spouted research at her. Heh. :) And she's an amazing writer of answering machine messages. Utterly awesome.

Also, Spamalot is so fun. (Yes, utterly random playlist happening here...)
lady_sarai: (WTF Jo)
Oh, goody! A time-consuming meme!!

RULES: On your current playlist, hit shuffle and pick the first fifty songs on the list (no matter how cheesy or embarrassing), and write down your favorite line of the song. Try to avoid putting the song title in the line. Obviously, skip instrumentals. Then, have your friends comment and see if they know the songs.

I will bold the ones people guess correctly and give them credit. Because that is a fun thing to do. And I *don't* want to write my paper on Gawain and the Green Knight. =P

Music is love. Take a guess! )

I've got a paper to write. I procrastinate TOO MUCH. >.<

Yeah, I had a hard time trying to stump you, The, on a lot of these. And I bet it didn't work. ;) Actually, it was a lot of fun trying to stump you and Ariel. Hee. And sometimes I just gave in and used my *actual* favorite line, give away it may be.

Yeah. That was too much fun and way too distracting.
lady_sarai: (RENT-no day but today)
And I made myself a Geek playlist on iTunes to prove it.

For Theanna, who said she wanted one. I have not the time or energy or patience required to upload these where one might possibly download them, but here is my list anyway.

I found the soundtrack to The Last Unicorn here and I am the happiest camper EVER. Seriously. (I only spent half my life looking for this soundtrack, and age 22, I type "The Last Unicorn songs" into Google and this is the first site it gives me. >.< Yeah. Gotta love that irony...)

So this is the playlist I use when Steph is out of the room, or I have headphones. Heh.

Bask in my Geekiness )

So yeah, bored. Should sleep. But eh.
lady_sarai: (HA! (laughing The))
I truly love the RENT movie soundtrack. The *music*... dude. Just... I think the instrumental parts kick ass.

Sometimes you get a cd, you know, and you immediately love it. And sometimes it takes a few listenings to decide what you think of it, you know? Idina Menzel's is definitely the former and Anthony Rapp's was the latter. And the decision I came to is that I *do* love it.

Certain songs in particular. I *love* Goodbye. Dunno why. And Living Alive took me a while to decide on, but I DO love it. Guh.

And then there's Adam Pascal, and I've had his cds for about a year, and Civilian? So much love for that cd. Ordinary Men Abound may well be an all-time favorite song.

I have OBC!Rent-cast joy.

And I AM a geek, and definitely read all of Anthony Rapp's posts/responses on Broadway World.com, and can I just fangirl him for a while? Cause, dude. He rocks. AND he's a Red Sox fan. (In the only way that matters, after all-in that he's not a Yankee fan. ;) Apologies to any Yankee fans out there.) And is not a fan of George W. Which is enough for me.

The weather is stinky. Stupid Maine. Every morning, cold and snowy. And grey, now. Fun.

The furnace is fixed. SO happy about this. God, heat is good. It was 62 when we woke up this morning, and went DOWN to 60 by the time the furnace guy left. Now it's a normal, tolerable temperature in the house. Wee!!

But my poor kitty threw up all over the place. Poor little Chip. :\

On the other hand, we think Febreze should hire Mo as a spokes-kitty, because after cleaning the icky with appropriate pet-safe carpet cleaner, I sprayed Febreze all over the rug. And Mozart, being the silly kitten he is, proceeded to have fits of glee and roll and roll and roll himself around the living room carpet. Oh, his joy.

He loves Febreze.

We timed him. He rolled around, and stopped and flopped back over to roll some more, for at *least* half an hour. Now Mo's sleeping. On the febrezed carpet.

It's rather hysterical.

And, oh, RENT has me in SUCH a fandom grip. It's upsetting, because there's not much AT ALL out there, by means of good fic. Theanna, I am THIS CLOSE to setting up something just for good fic. But the problem would be finding anything to PUT there.

Oi.

On an up-note, I finally switched POVs and am very nearly on page 9 with current word count 2,592. Which is a lot. Considering I'm still setting the darn thing up. And I have a fairly good game plan. Here's praying this doesn't fall victim to school once the new semester starts...

But anyway. Having one of those 'what do I do with myself?' moments... BORED. Guh.
