You know, there are times when I absolutely freaking LOVE fandom and fannish things and my various platforms of fannish love. I'm currently caught in fannish glee over several things.

1. Twitter. I love it. I love that I can post a random thought about something I saw on a Yuletide rec post and [livejournal.com profile] likeadeuce and [livejournal.com profile] harmonyangel and I can then have a conversation about Little Women that lasts two days.

For everyone else who is curious, I said that I disagree with this statement about a Little Women fic: "The ending Little Women should have had, with Jo going to Paris and hooking up with Laurie again." Because--no. As [livejournal.com profile] likeadeuce pointed out, the entire second half of the book is designed to show that Jo/Laurie is a bad match. Also, Laurie/Amy are better suited, personality wise. And I like Professor Bhaer, if only because of what Louisa May Alcott said: "Jo should have remained a literary spinster, but so many enthusiastic young ladies wrote to me clamorously demanding that she should marry Laurie, or somebody, that I didn't dare refuse and out of perversity went and made a funny match for her."

I mean, come on. How awesome was she? ♥

2. AIM. Also, my phone, because [livejournal.com profile] museofspeed can send me a text message from an airplane that says "READ RED ROBIN" and later she can tell me that keyboard smashing is too difficult on a phone, but she can keyboard smash me in IM.

Supernatural and Red Robin examples of fannish flailing here! )

3) LJ. I love all of my LJ friends, and I love that [livejournal.com profile] aravistarkheena and I can have long, rambling threads about lumberjacks and lobstermen, and [livejournal.com profile] milleniumrex and I can talk about Disney movies and Epic Crossovers, and it's all just fun and awesome. It also gives me back my [livejournal.com profile] marenzi and her awesomesauce. ♥

Also, the first hour of Heroes this week was freaking AWESOME.

So, basically, I am having fun being a fan right now.

Do we all know just how much of a geek I am, and how much joy I derive from my geekdom?

Because we all should.

Derive joy from geekdom, that is; I'm not saying we should all know how much of a geek I am.

But I'd sort of forgotten how much of my geekitude I hide from the world at large, because my best friends and my family--they so know. But spending 8 hours in a car with people who DON'T know how geeky I am?

Well. It put things in perspective. We played the alphabet game, and unlike when I had breakfast with [livejournal.com profile] zoe_chan, [livejournal.com profile] aradiachiba and [livejournal.com profile] awigeon... there were no superheroes or wizards invoked at all. We played using names, music and food. Seriously.

Also, we passed an emu farm and I said (in deadpan) "If I had a million dollars, I'd buy you an exotic pet--like a llama, or an emu."

When that got NO REACTION I said "If I had a million dollars, I'd buy you a green dress--but not a real green dress, that's cruel."

And they all looked at me like I was crazy. I was hoping for laughter.

I'm not sure what spawned this--no, wait, I do. I was listening to music. And the lyrics were pretenscious and verbose and witty. I can't remember now what it was, but. Possibly not anything about pre-wrapped sausages.

My amusement and geekdom are along the lines of how the Captain Planet theme song kills me in the use of the line "Gonna help him pull asunder bad guys who like to loot and plunder." (Or something like that.) Because seriously, the words "asunder" and "plunder" not only rhyme, they're insanely awesome in the context of a cartoon theme song I watched when I was too little to know what the hell that meant.

I *really* want to write, and I want to make some DC icons and that means making ROOM for more icons and this makes me sad. But, omg, have fallen in love with Roy Harper. It's sad, really. And my love for Dick Grayson is still utterly intact and pure.

Plus, it's pretty when he jumps around like that.

I think I'm in the mood for some 5 things type writing. Hmm, that could be fun.
