Mother. REALLY.

I'm from Maine, right? If you didn't know that, you haven't been paying attention. ;) (Or maybe all the Bruce/Richard madness really HAS taken me over.)

Anyway, this means that when it comes to sports... well. For baseball, we have the Portland Sea Dogs and the Sanford... um. Something? Mainers, maybe. Their mascot is a moose. I *think.* (They're relatively new.) Hockey: Portland Pirates (yay!) and the Lewiston Mainiacs. (No, I'm *not* kidding but don't I wish I were.) Basketball: High Schools, OMG yes, and colleges. Particularly University of Southern Maine Huskies, but I think the reason I think of them is because USM has a campus in my *backyard* just about. I really don't care about basketball, so there. Football: ...We have high school football and the University of Maine Black Bears.

Right, so, anyone not from Maine hear of any of those? EVER? (Possibly the Pirates, they win on occasion! And the Sea Dogs did quite well this year, but, you know. You probably haven't.)

We have nothing major league.

The point of this whole long explanation you don't care about is that when it comes to caring about sports, I care only for one: FOOTBALL.

Yes, I like the football. (My college roommate maintains that it's because of the *pants* and I find there's no way to argue that. Hello, Tom Brady's pants.)

...

Right, yes, sorry, the pants distracted me. Anyway, this means I root for one football team and have for as long as I can recall.

PATRIOTS, baby. =D

When I young, this was an exercise in futility and despair at times. But lately! Oh, lately, it's been nice to be a Pats fan.

Now, my mother has always said "don't be a fair-weather fan" and other such "if you like the team, you root for them no matter what" type things. This is my attitude.

Apparently my mother has changed her mind.

My aunt lives in San Diego, and of course, this weekend the Pats are playing the Chargers in the playoffs.

There is NO QUESTION who I am rooting for, OBVIOUSLY.

I overheard my mother telling my aunt "I hope the Chargers win."

O_O

I disown you, Mom.

She claims this is the because the Pats have won "too much" and they should "let someone else win."

::head. desk. repeatedly::

That's not how it works!!! If it were, the Yankees would have stopped winning LONG ago. Fair has nothing to do with sports, Mother.

Oh, this is disturbing. ;)
