Eh... why not?

Because today, apparently, is Do-Nothing-Day.
Played a game or two of Farkel with Steph. Opened the window wide. Have fan on. Am wearing pink. It is goodness and beauty today. Horray for Spring!
Seen in
penknife's LJ.
1. Comment with any ship from a fandom that you know I like, or at least have some knowledge about.
2. I will ramble for 100 words about aforementioned ship. This may be incoherent gushing or exclamations of disgust, depending on what it is.
3. Put this on your LJ, if you are so inclined.
It could be interesting. Provided enough people read my LJ. ;) Heh. (This is doubtful.)
And for the record, reading and asking me in IM ::coughTheannacough:: doesn't count for this. ;) hehe... Love you, Silly.
EDIT: It says 100 words. This is me. I promise no such brevity. ;) Heh.

Date: 2005-03-24 10:53 pm (UTC)Anyway, Harry and Hermione... I really see them as friends. I identify with Hermione in a lot of ways-bookworm, smart, not a LOT of friends, but a few GREAT ones-and maybe this is part of it. I think Hermione and Harry wouldn't work as a couple if only because I really don't see the attraction between them. Obviously Harry's never looked at Hermione as much more than... his best friend who happens to be a girl. Ron gets jealous, angry and tongue-tied over Viktor Krum, but Harry just laughs at them. (Granted, these are kids. But they will grow up.)
And as much as I love to read happy-in-love!Harry, I think he's so caught up in being The Boy Who Lived And Has A Prophecy To Fulfill that it would be hard for him to be in love and focus on that until *after* he defeats Voldemort. (speaking of, go read "After the End" if you haven't. It's long, and AU now, as it was written pre-OotP, but it's terrific. and realistic.)
Anyway, I think part of my issue with Harry/Hermione is that I just ship Ron/Hermione so strongly. I think Hermione and Harry have more of a best friend/brother-sister relationship. They DO love each other, but not like that.
Hermione worries about Harry, and I can see how that can be seen as Hermione loving Harry... which she does. But I think it's more of a Hermione playing the Mother Hen role. Hermione worries about the people she loves, and tries to help them. But she never yells or screams at Harry, no matter how frustrated or angry she gets at him. She huffs and walks off, but I can't recall (off-hand) any instance where she's confronted him in the way she has confronted Ron. (Then again, I'm not sure what this means. I suppose it could be taken the other way, but I'm not seeing it as a sign that she loves him.)
If any of that makes sense. I'm trying not to turn this into a rant on the reasons I ship R/H, but the two are kind of tied together and so... Heh. (and yeah, definitely over 100 words, but whatever. I'm not good with the brevity.)

Date: 2005-03-25 03:54 pm (UTC)I don't know what it is about R/Hr but, while I wouldn't mind it becoming canon, it just doesn't interest me that much. I guess they're banter annoys me more then anything. I'm such a Harry fan, that I just get annoyed with him when they start arguing. Their relationship as it currently stands just gets on my nerves. But jealous!Ron (with Krum and everything) is the cutest thing in the world.
When I consider Harry/Ginny separately, it does seem likely that they may end up together. But when you throw Ron/Hermione in it, it does seem all too easy. We will see, I guess.
Thanks for the fic rec!

Date: 2005-03-26 04:55 am (UTC)I don't know. The banter is part of why I love them, and part of why I think they are good for Harry. They distract him from his "The World is ending and I have to SAVE it" mindset. I love Harry-how can you not? But sometimes... I get a little frustrated. I think part of why OotP annoyed me a bit was that Harry turned into an angry teenager... which he is entitled to do. But the CHAPTERS of capital letters got... frustrating for me. I know it's a normal reaction. I think I just wanted-and considered-Harry to be above that. If this makes sense.
But then, Hermione annoys me when she gets all superior and concentrates on SPEW. Ron annoys me in GoF when he is mad at Harry, and when he starts moping about his money and big family... but in the end, I love them all.
I just see Ron and Hermione working as a couple better than Harry and Hermione. I love in OotP when Ron and Hermione work together to talk to Harry and take care of him. I think that's an example of how they'd make a great couple.
(Sorry, I'm rambling... again. Heh. Shutting up now.)
Yeah, maybe I have to go reread parts of OotP now... Hmm...

Date: 2005-03-26 03:52 pm (UTC)They definitely all have their flaws, but I guess that's what also makes us love them in the end.
Speaking of angry Harry, I once saw a funny icon once with a picture of Harry that said "The Caps Lock Gene ... definitely dominant". Tee hee.

Date: 2005-03-25 06:43 am (UTC)Okay, maybe I will wait until tomorrow or this weekend to tackle that.
Meanwhile, dearest Angel of Fiction, we have discussed this at length and you KNOW I cannot possibly handle this in 100 words. ;)
For now, I say Raoul is sexy and Christine does realize this. And who can resist history? They've got history.
And he's the good guy. The Phantom is a little psychotic and he's a stalker (and we all know how much fun THAT is) and he's a FATHER FIGURE... who she's physically attracted to. Eh. Hello? Dr. Freud?
My closing argument for tonight...
The Phantom was willing to (and *did*) kill for Christine. Raoul was willing to *DIE* for her.
I'd pick the latter any day.
