So, I subbed yesterday for fifth grade--and I ACTUALLY WAS THE TEACHER.

This should not be so shocking and astonishing, based on the almost consecutive two weeks I've been subbing. But. >_< They keep sticking me in classes with ed techs who take over, or classes that are team taught. So, you can imagine me walking into that portable classroom and discovering that, yes, *I* would be *alone* with the kiddos, and yes. Picture that dance of glee.

Then picture the look on my face when I saw two sets of sub plans--one set for a cancelled field trip, and the other for THE SNOW TUBING FIELD TRIP I HAD NO IDEA MIGHT HAPPEN!

Thank god for two snow days, which meant that the other grades missed their field trips and therefore, the fifth grade's field trip was rescheduled.

I was so not dressed for snow tubing. =P That could have been monumentally bad.

In other news, next week is February vacation, so... um... week off, yay?

In even OTHER news, I have quite a few fandomish things I want to post about, and honestly? My thoughts might best be conveyed by just copy/pasting from IMs with [livejournal.com profile] zoe_chan from this week. ;) And I'm thinking I'm gonna do this as several small posts, instead of one big one, just for the sake of not spoiling people for things, as [livejournal.com profile] zoe_chan and I? Get off an tangents like whoa.

I'll start with how the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles imprinted on me at a very young age and apparently is the Root Cause for my favorite Bulletproof Kink (in a non-sex way, although if sex is a byproduct, I don't ever complain!):

Lady_Sarai: IT HAS MY KINK!!!!!!!!!!!!
[livejournal.com profile] zoe_chan: It DOES!!!
Lady_Sarai: IT SO DOES!
[livejournal.com profile] zoe_chan: It is your kink all up and down.
Lady_Sarai: it's even got the less pretty side of my kink that REALLY does it for me and I try OMG SO HARD not to think of the psychological ramifications of.
[livejournal.com profile] zoe_chan: and the less pretty side of your kink?
Lady_Sarai: ... the less pretty side of my kink. um. ::turns ten shades of red:: okay, so, the horrid fevers and deathly illness really does it for me, but sometimes? I think I watched WAY TOO MANY superhero shows as a child and the whole kidnap/beating thing got a LITTLE too beaten into my brain. Did you know Two-Face beat Robin nearly to death in his first year as Robin? Yeah, then Batman fired him but not for long. I forget precisely what happened in TMNT to Raphael but you remember, I'm sure. I blame these things.
Lady_Sarai: ::shifty eyes and hides::
Lady_Sarai: So, yeah, it was my kink, squared.
[livejournal.com profile] zoe_chan: I do remember.
Lady_Sarai: what happened?
[livejournal.com profile] zoe_chan: he went onto the roof for some alone-time because he and Leonardo argued.
[livejournal.com profile] zoe_chan: While he was up there, he was ambushed by members of the Foot.
[livejournal.com profile] zoe_chan: they beat the SHIT out of him, while everyone else was taking a tour of April's junk store.
[livejournal.com profile] zoe_chan: he eventually got thrown through a glass window, and dropped through a floor.
Lady_Sarai: I BLAME THE NINJA TURTLE MOVIE OMG SO MUCH!!!!!!!! AND HOW PATHETIC IS IT THAT I CAN TRACE MY KINK TO TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES?!?! ::has no idea what to do with this::
[livejournal.com profile] zoe_chan: ::shifty eyes:: I so share that aspect of your kink (and this is so terrible)
Lady_Sarai: THANK YOU
Lady_Sarai: I feel far less pathetic now.
[livejournal.com profile] zoe_chan: ::hugs you::
Lady_Sarai: it's so disturbing.
[livejournal.com profile] zoe_chan: yeah, I'm there with you

(LJ-ify your IMs before pasting!)

Context? Is for the weak. (Also, this conversation will probably just get re-posted in context at a later point, but. Yeah. >_<)

;)

Also, I seriously need more icon space, and I want icons of Friends, the DC fandom--Nightwing and Arsenal, SQUEE!, Grey's, Twilight, Teh Gay Sex... ;) Among other things. Speaking of icons, [livejournal.com profile] zoe_chan's Leonardo icon would be PERFECT for this post. ::sigh::

..All this being said, the current Grey's Anatomy plot would SO be my kink--minus the disturbing Turtle-related bits--if it were happening to, say, Alex or Addison, or Bailey or Izzie or George or Cristina... Um. ::rethinks:: Yeah, it'd be perfect if it were Alex. (And when did Alex become my favorite? REALLY?!)

You're so not alone. The part where they all went to April's grandma's house and Leo was sitting at Raph's tub all the time totally made me mushy.

That part was ALWAYS my favorite, and apparently imprinted on me.

I have no idea what this says about me, but I *need* to find that video and rewatch it as an adult. Seriously.

From: [identity profile] xenokattz.livejournal.com
I might have it on DVD. *coughcough*

O_O

Why did I not know this movie is on DVD?

And where can I get it? ...Possibly not at 12:30 am, though.

From: [identity profile] xenokattz.livejournal.com
I actually got it FOR FREE at some place that I got pizza. Can you fathom that? This is childhood GOLD and they gave it away!

Date: 2007-02-18 05:39 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lady-sarai.livejournal.com
They GAVE IT AWAY?! And it came with PIZZA?!

::flails::

Further proof why Canada wins.

Also, HOW APPROPRIATE! PIZZA!

Date: 2007-02-18 05:41 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] xenokattz.livejournal.com
Isn't it. I also credit TMNT with my love for pizza. I discovered it when I first moved to Canada from the Philippines and until I saw Michaelangelo scarf one down with such gusto, the idea of mushified tomatoes and cheese on bread disgusted me. If Michaelangelo loved, then it must be good.

Cowabunga, dude.

Lord, I remember when I would say that SERIOUSLY and MEAN IT. And NOT get weird looks.

(I can't honestly say I'm sad that phrase has fallen by the wayside.)

Hmm, now I want pizza.

Donatello was always my favorite, because he was such a geek. But as an adult, my favorite might well have changed. I need to find this movie to find out.

My Gr. 3 "boyfriend *coughcough* and I called each other Michaelangelo and April. That may be the reason why I have such fond memories of the character.

::shifty eyes::

Somewhere is a binder from second grade with "Donatello + April" written in hearts all over it.

Shipping starts early, apparently. (Even if now I think... ew.) ;)

I know. I mean, turtles don't even have penises. Penii. Whatever. I was happy when she ultimately ended up with Casey Jones though.

Date: 2007-02-18 05:55 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lady-sarai.livejournal.com
Hee, I know. I don't often spend much time thinking about the anatomy of mutant turtles, and I really would rather not think about turtle!sex at all, thanks. =P I did like Casey, and I think part of my brain registered that April and Casey worked better as a couple anyway.

After all, April isn't a teenager. ;)

Date: 2007-02-18 05:56 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] xenokattz.livejournal.com
OMG, that was my thought too! Also, Michaelangelo was waiting for me to grow up.

Date: 2007-02-18 05:59 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lady-sarai.livejournal.com
Well, DUH, just like Donatello was waiting for me.

...Yeah, no, my brain can't get over the cross-species nature of this conversation to just go with it and not squick out. ::smacks brain:: Stop it.

They're permanent jailbait, anyway, now. Plus, you know, ninjas.

...no idea what effect being a ninja has on that, but it muse have something.

Date: 2007-02-18 06:01 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] xenokattz.livejournal.com
Apparently, in the new movie, they're around 20. 20 and ninjas; that actually sounds like a TV series.

Do you remember the copy cat cartoons like Biker Mice form Mars?

Date: 2007-02-18 06:04 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lady-sarai.livejournal.com
20! 20 is not a teenager. 19 I'll take, but 20? Geesh. ;)

I have a very vague recollection of that as a show my brother loved. Wow. But I totally was religious about TMNT and Batman: The Animated Series. Also, Tiny Toon Adventures, oddly enough.

Oh, my childhood. ::draws sparkly hearts around it::

Does the new TMNT offend you at a primal level, as it does me? THEY HAVE NO EYES, it's CREEPY.

Date: 2007-02-18 06:07 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] xenokattz.livejournal.com
Not really. The comics didn't have eyes either and they all had red masks.

X-Men: The Animated Series. Gargoyles, and Freakazoid, dude. I'm still collecting those in digital format.

Date: 2007-02-18 06:13 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lady-sarai.livejournal.com
Red masks?! ::flails:: Ah well. I think it's the animation that bothers me most; it's not what I grew up with, therefore it is teh evil. Although it says something that they are still popular, twenty years later.

Then again, so is Strawberry Shortcake, Care Bears and My Little Pony, and they definitely screwed those up this time around.

Gargoyles! I loved them. It is to my surpreme sadness that I never got into X-Men when it was on, but my best friend (at the time) had an older brother who liked to lock us in closets and he loved them, so therefore I was not allowed to like them either (according to her--she was very bossy).

Darkwing Duck! "I am the terror that flaps in the night!" Duck Tales, whooo-ooo! Captain Planet, which has the best theme song EVER--the vocabulary is really something when you think of seven year olds belting it out.

::tries to think of girly shows she liked after she hit age seven and comes up blank:: I don't know what that says about me.

Date: 2007-02-18 06:17 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] xenokattz.livejournal.com
The girly shows sucked. The only girly show I ever liked was Kim Possible. She-Ra was stupid compared to He-Man.

I worship Greg Wiesman. He made one of the very few smart cartoons. The fact that it was a smart cartoon from Disney is even more amazing.

My memory chips are bringing up something about King Arthur and the Knights of Justice where a high school football team gets transported to the medieval ages to replace the real King Arthur et all who are frozen by a spell. Had a TOTAL ink-crush on the quarterback, Arthur King.

Date: 2007-02-18 06:22 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lady-sarai.livejournal.com
I totally love Kim Possible, unashamedly. Possibly because Shego is the Best Villain Ever, and her snark is the thing of legends. Also, huge fondness for Ron, who is voiced by whoever played Eric on Boy Meets World.

Fountain of useless knowledge, yo.

What I love is when I revisit shows from my childhood and as an adult, I still like them. That is the best thing ever.

Actually, maybe not ever. That honor might belong to discovering that Batman: The Animated Series is at times closer to comic canon than the COMICS. ;)

Date: 2007-02-18 06:25 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] xenokattz.livejournal.com
Batman Beyond is credited with helping me accept the DC world along with Superman Returns. Terry = awesomesauce. Also, it also had Ace the BatDog. How cool is that?

Date: 2007-02-18 06:34 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lady-sarai.livejournal.com
Hee, my first "boyfriend" was totally Dick Grayson. Also, the world STOPPED for B:TAS. It was on at 3:30 in the afternoon and so the afternoon consisted of coming home, having a snack, going outside to play and then everyone--EVERYONE--retreating indoors for half an hour, after which we went back outside to play Batman. I fought with the others to be Robin. They didn't think a girl could be Robin, so I wonder what they'd make of Stephanie Brown. ;) To please the other girl my age, we would play house--but it was Batman-style.

Date: 2007-02-18 06:39 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] xenokattz.livejournal.com
I've never played house. Boooooring. Even with my Barbies, I'd make them secretly superheroes or sorceresses and have them play with the larger-sized GI Joes.

Oh, that's the other one! The GI Joe cartoons! I'm totally reaching to my early childhood along with He-Man, The Gummi Bears, and the Care Bears.

Date: 2007-02-18 06:45 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lady-sarai.livejournal.com
Yeah, the only house I liked playing was Bat!house, when I could be Robin, or Batgirl and go running off with the boys through the woods. Oh, that and we had an awesome period of time when we played Dinosaur!house and there was a lot of running away from carnivores.

GI Joe! Gummi Bears! I did like Rainbow Brite, now that I remember.

Also, we totally broke my LJ without making Richard drunk or confusing Clark! This is unprecedented!

Date: 2007-02-18 06:47 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] xenokattz.livejournal.com
No kidding. It feels a little funny.

Ummm...

How about if Remy makes a comment on how Batarangs are phallic?

Date: 2007-02-18 06:48 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lady-sarai.livejournal.com
Bruce thinks Remy is losing his touch. Like he hasn't heard that one before.

Richard knew it was too good to be true.

Date: 2007-02-18 06:49 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] xenokattz.livejournal.com
Clark flops on a chair beside Richard and wordlessly passes a stein.

Date: 2007-02-18 06:50 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lady-sarai.livejournal.com
They should really be used to this by now.

Date: 2007-02-18 06:51 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] xenokattz.livejournal.com
[aside: HAMMY!!!]

Richard makes a comment on how Remy and Bruce should just make-out already and get it out of their system.

Clark had thought he was incapable of choking until this moment.

Date: 2007-02-18 06:59 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lady-sarai.livejournal.com
[Hammy is AWESOME. =D The kids at the camp I work at quoted that all summer, and I only encouraged them, because OMG awesomesauce.]

Richard really thinks Clark should stay home every once in a while. He only embarrasses himself.

What Remy is doing does not look humanly possible.

Date: 2007-02-18 07:05 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] xenokattz.livejournal.com
Bruce's reaction, while not as physically... erm... striking, is quite verbose and explicit and Clark can never look at egg separators in the same way ever again.

Date: 2007-02-18 07:10 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lady-sarai.livejournal.com
Richard wonders why he continues to put himself in this situation. Most people never see their college roommates again after they drop out and vanish for seven years. And he should be smarter than to be seen in public with Remy.

Date: 2007-02-18 07:14 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] xenokattz.livejournal.com
Remy reminds Richard that he (Richard) is only being a good citizen by showing around a poor newcomer from Way Out of Town.

Also, Richard eerily reminds him of his drinking buddy, Scott.

Date: 2007-02-18 07:18 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lady-sarai.livejournal.com
Except that Scott can hold significantly more liquor than Richard. But Richard is a lot easier to egg on, so it might even out.

Date: 2007-02-18 07:24 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] xenokattz.livejournal.com
True. Now Remy is getting nostalgic and Bruce is trying to figure out a way to take advantage of the situation. Perhaps a very un-phallic Batarang to the head?

Date: 2007-02-18 07:29 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lady-sarai.livejournal.com
Clark thinks he should tell Bruce that if he uses a Batarang--phallic or not--on Remy, he's going to have to do something and this is supposed to be a relaxing evening. Of course, he also considers just making Richard deal with it, because it was his idea in the first place.

The last time he did that, though, he wound up sleeping on the couch and Richard was stuck in the spare bedroom, and it really wasn't fair of Lois to punish him because Richard let his friends blow up the bar.

Date: 2007-02-18 07:33 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] xenokattz.livejournal.com
Richard reminds Clark that if he wanted a relaxing evening, he would not have brought Bruce or Remy, nevermind the both of them within fifty miles of each other.

Remy tells Bruce that he (Bruce) wants to poke him (Remy) with anything, he (Bruce) is going to have to pay him (Remy) just like he (Bruce) does with all his boy toys.

Date: 2007-02-18 07:39 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lady-sarai.livejournal.com
And I would keep playing, but my brain decided to Shut Down Completely in a Blue Screen of Death sort of way. >_<

I think it's been a long night and I need to sleep, but yay! Thank you for the LJ breakage, it was definitely needed. :) ♥!

Date: 2007-02-18 07:40 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] xenokattz.livejournal.com
I was about to suggest that as well. Yay for rum!
