Meme and State of the Sara

Oh, why not? It's been a while. Shamelessly stolen from
second_batgirl.
Ask me my Top Five Whatevers. Fannish or otherwise. Any top fives. Doesn't matter what, really! And I will answer them all in a newpost comment. Possibly with pictures.
So, yes. I have been a moody, grouchy Sara lately, which seems unfair for my birthday week, but it's turning out to be a weird birthday this year anyway. I'm not getting into it again right now, because argh. But as a present, I am redecorating my bedroom, which involved emptying it and painting it.
Hahaha, seriously? I had pictures from a 1995 calendar up there, as well as a Babysitter's Club book order poster and a quiz on state capitals from seventh grade in September, 1996. Apparently when I was younger, I thought it was okay to just... hang a poster up OVER whatever was already on the wall. Yeah, there's a reason I have put off redecorating for years. However, my room is now a sunny yellow and very pretty. I am trying to reassemble it so I can sleep there tonight.
OH, and I have a new I Harth Darth mood theme. <3
Annnnd that's all I have right now. HIT ME.

Date: 2010-08-12 11:17 pm (UTC)2. Bonnie homeschooled Cissie, so Elias was her first real school experience. With the POSSIBLE exception of kindergarten before her dad died. (I cannot conceive of how she could take THAT MANY extracurricular activities and practice archery for hours on end like she must have AND had time for school. And I feel like Bonnie's priorities were just screwed up enough to make this possible.)
3. ...She found out about Kon and Bart from the news, instead of her friends. :( (Bart is debatable, but my headcanon has Cissie volunteering her medic skills during the Crisis and hearing about Kon with the rest of the masses.)
4. All of those fake names she called herself by when she was little also had distinct personalities and backstories and she would use them to pretend to be someone else, especially with strangers when her mother wasn't around.
5. Bowstring was a good father and loved Cissie very much, and knew about Ollie, but didn't care because he was the one she called Daddy. He was also the one who told her stories and tucked her in at night, and Cissie missed that after he died because Bonnie wasn't the tucking-in type.

Date: 2010-08-11 07:07 pm (UTC)TOP FIVE FAMILIES (and by this, I mean family of birth or family of choice, so, like, the Bats are totally eligible. Also please to be including any sort of fanon, so if your Founders are family to you, please to be including them). ALSO please to be elaborating about WHY if you like. By "elaborate," I mean that saying things like, "Because TIM!!!" is totally valid.
P.S. I'm so glad you said something about your birthday being tomorrow, because that's what I thought, but then everyone was saying Happy Birthday and I was all confused.

Date: 2010-08-14 05:27 pm (UTC)1. BATFAMILY. BECAUSE TIM! ;) Also Dick. And Tim and Dick, who are brothers and wonderful, and now even Damian has grown on me and he and Tim have a lovely 'we'd like to throw each other out a window' kind of relationship that's hysterical, especially as Dick is just like '...please don't.' And Alfred is the best, of course. And Bruce is such a loner, but keeps collecting strays and has this large support group even though he might not want it. I love those boys. BUT ALSO: I love Tim's friends, who are totally also a family.
2. ...TheWinchesters,shutup,youknowwhy.
3. The Petrellis, including Claire and HRG in this because... yeah. HRG goes with Claire, and oh, I love Claire's mother too, and anyway, I love Claire and Peter AND Claire and Nathan, but I reeeeally love Angela and those boys and how screwed up they all are. Seriously, the season 1 brunch scene? Come on. <3 ...And Hiro and Ando are family and I adore them too.
4. The Weasleys. Does that really need explaining? (INCLUDING Harry and Hermione, because that's how the Weasleys roll.)
5. The original Grey's Anatomy interns. Plus Bailey, because she's the mom. But Meredith said it once and it's true--they were a family, and I miss them. ...Also the Founders, because they were totally a family, including a lot of dysfunction. ;) I will probably never write the fics I had for that, so I will just hope that someday someone else will write about Helga and Salazar's doomed romance and Godric and Salazar's broken brotherhood and Helga and Rowena sisterly love saving the school.
6. BONUS: The Pevensies. Also the Lost castaways. ...I have too many icons to choose from when posting this comment, I hope you know.
PS: ...This may have been my favorite list. ;) And hee, I got confused myself! I was like "...I didn't THINK I said it was my birthday?"

Date: 2010-08-12 11:39 pm (UTC)1. HELLO ICON--actually, everything about Cissie's quitting arc.
2. BASEBALL ON MYRG!
3. The "silent" issue with Bart and Kon. <3
4. Cissie yelling at Superman
5. The issue where Traya is being bullied at school over her race.

Date: 2010-08-11 08:38 pm (UTC)Item the second, holy shit, it was all still up? Like just the way it was in highschool, cause I have a pic somewhere in my epic ton of pics of you in your room.
Item the third, top five songs that make you want to rip your ears off and chuck them out the door rather than listen to them.

Date: 2010-08-14 04:58 pm (UTC)...Yeah, almost the same. Some posters changed in college, but then I've been lazy and haven't changed much. :P
Ohgod. ...I suck at thinking of ACTUAL songs, so you get categories instead:
1. ANYTHING BY JAMES TAYLOR. My roommate for my first two years of college had ONE James Taylor CD she played CONSTANTLY and now his voice makes me want to kill kittens.
2. Traditional Jazz music. No idea why.
3. Sadly, Dave Matthews Band--see item 1. She only had two cds. Guess the second.
4. Reeeeeeeally high-pitched sopranos, owowow, my ears.
5. Rap music in general.

Date: 2010-08-11 11:26 pm (UTC)Meme question: Top 5 posters you've owned & you have no idea why. Alternatively, top 5 posters you wish you owned (that may or may not actually exist).

Date: 2010-08-14 06:15 pm (UTC)Maaaaaaaaan. THIS IS HARD.
1. The movie poster for HP 1, the one that was in the theaters, with Hogwarts at night and the boats crossing the lake.
2. This poster of the Argonath in LotR.
3. The painting this icon is from.
4. A poster of Tonsberg, Norway and landmarks in it that my aunt bought me there.
5. I once had the movie poster for Moulin Rouge, which I loved.
Posters I WANT:
1. THIS.
2. THIS.
3. Can I find it now? NO. Remember the art deco type Rogue poster you liked? The guy who also did Gambit and the DC heroes too? There was a Robin one. I wants it.
...That's all I can think of right now. :P

Date: 2010-08-12 01:39 pm (UTC)Top 5 b-movies (you have no idea why you like them)
no subject
Date: 2010-08-14 04:53 pm (UTC)Weell, going by that definition (as I don't like a lot of the traditional B-movies, since I don't watch much horror), here we go:
1. Elizabethtown. I watched it the first time thinking "what is this, why am I still watching" and then the last half hour won me over and I thought "huh, I liked this." And rewatched, and now it's a comfort movie.
2. ...The High School Musical movies. I don't actually have any excuses for these, I just find them fun.
3. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. I suspect I like this because of Jimmy Stewart and the Gene Pitney song by the same name, though the song is not in the movie. The very last scene of the movie made me stop and do a double-take and I like that.
4. The Star Wars Prequels. I know they're nowhere near as good as the originals and most everyone hates them, but I enjoy them. There are things that make me crazy, but John Williams' score makes up for it.
5. Kindergarten Cop. I loved it when I was a kid, and now I teach, so aside from how very WRONG it is in regards to how teaching and schools really work, I enjoy it. It's cute and silly, and I'm a sucker for big tough guys being wrapped around tiny children's fingers.
